The Grendel proudly presents the most comprehensive and intensive screen printing training program in the industry. Simply put, within three full days of classroom and workshop training, you will learn to screen print. You will learn how to screen print the right way: The Grendel way!

and Veteran Screen Printers
Whether
you are new to the industry and need comprehensive training,
are an experienced screen printer and just need a good refresher
course or desire to learn some new techniques, this class
is right for you. This intensive training focuses on both
the HOW and the WHY - offering advanced information on the
entire screen printing process.
Our
hands-on training program is designed to train start-up screen
printers and to help old hands review the entire screen printing
process, from start to finish.
You
will learn how to avoid the common problems many shops face
that can result in months of wasted time, money, and supplies.
For the new start-up screen printer, this training will teach
you how to avoid these problems all together and how to screen
print the right way! For the veteran screen printer, this
training will help you overcome many of the ongoing technical
problems that occur in almost every shop. This training program
is comprehensive enough to offer the most effective methods
and advanced industry tips and techniques that will benefit
every shop.

Graphics
professionals will gain important technical insights into the
basic graphical
processes employed in screen printing. You will learn the details
and gain the knowledge necessary to make graphic products work
effectively for the unusual methods employed within the screen
printing industry. |

to ask detailed, technical questions of the instructor, Douglas
Grigar, our industry authority and industrial education expert,

updated methods that can save thousands of dollars, making your
shop more efficient and profitable. You will learn in detail
how to implement a complete production process from positive
to final product. You will learn up to date methods of screen
cleaning and reclaiming, using emulsions and coating for maximum
effect, exposure control, and effective drying and contamination
control. |

learn about important chemical properties and reactions and
how to avoid the problems that can result from their improper
use. You will learn how to properly
use all of the related industry products in order to gain
the maximum benefit for your production needs. You will also
get extensive overviews of how to avoid many of the common
industry mistakes that cause simple operations to become tedious,
time intensive, and costly.

Comprehensive Screen Printing Workshop and Class Will Teach: |
Positives-to-Press:
How to properly prepare, review and place positives.
Four
Color Process Printing: How process
colors work, the standard and alternative angles, and how
the dot size, shape, and mesh choices affect the final print.
Registration:
How to use pre-registration systems and effective use of press
micro registration controls.
Exposure
Systems: How to choose
an accurate exposure time, how to keep exposure variables
under control, how to dry stencils quickly and effectively,
and how this affects the final stencil.
Pre-Press:
How to ensure efficient press set-up, how products dictate
needs, and how and what to review before printing.
Press:
How to complete press set-up and effective registration tips,
learn the famous “tape trick”, along with squeegee
placement, angles, pressure, movement, and ergonomics. Learn
how a flood, off-contact, and mesh tension affect the final
print.
Inks:
How to select and use inks. Learn how the proper selection
and use of inks, including a detailed review of specialty
inks, dictate graphics production and print order. You will
also learn about the physical properties and characteristics
of inks with an explanation of what methods work and how to
avoid operational difficulties.
Mesh:
How to select and use different meshes. Learn how the proper
selection, tensioning, maintenance, cleaning and reclamation,
effects on stencil use. You will see microscopic photographs
and detailed drawings that will clearly explain exactly
how mesh/screen printing works.

Emulsion:
How to properly select emulsion. Learn about effective usage,
coating for maximum effect, appropriate
thickness and its effects, the application of capillary
film products and drying for time reduction and contamination
control.

Frames:
How to properly select, maintain, and use different types
of frames, including stretching retensionable frames and effective
usage.

Who is
the Instructor? |
Your instructor will be The Grendel’s own screen printing
educational expert and technical authority, Douglas Grigar.
A well-known consultant and advocate in the industry, Douglas
Grigar will present his highly effective, down-to-the-basics,
technical training.
Specifically, with over 20 years of industry experience, Douglas
Grigar will provide you with his state-of-the-art, proprietary
classroom training and the hands-on screen printing equipment
and methods training you will need to learn how to screen
print the right way. This training program that was developed
by Douglas Grigar is based on Develop A Curriculum (DACUM)
methods and guidelines, which is a collegiate analysis procedure
of industrial jobs. No other screen printing class experience
offers this level of training and technical preparation available
in a classroom setting.

Upon completion
of The Grendel Comprehensive Screen Printing Workshop and
Class, every student will receive an official certificate
of course completion. This
certificate will be dated and signed by
Douglas Grigar and will document your successful completion
of this comprehensive workshop/class. Students will leave
our class with a thorough understanding of how to screen
print and the entire screen printing process, a proprietary
course booklet, other supplemental material and an official
certificate of course completion.

How
Much Does the Class Cost?
The cost of attending the three-day Comprehensive Screen
Printing Workshop and Class is $495 per person (This works
out to only $165 per day!). To ensure effective hands-on
training for all attendees, seating will be limited. All
seats are reserved on a first-come first-serve basis. If
