Discuss producing positives with an inkjet printer and why it in necessary to have a R.I.P.

-Since all professional level graphic programs (Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop) require access to a postscript compatible printer, a R.I.P. is very important.
-Since inkjets are non-postscript printers, a R.I.P is required. -R.I.P is a Raster Imaging Processor.
-Understand why printer dialogs inside some graphic programs will not even appear without a post script compatible printer.
-Learn how having a R.I.P installed simulates having the post script compatible printer online.
-Review having emulsion up (right reading) and why that is important.
-Discuss how and why a R.I.P. pretends to be a printer for your graphics program.
-Discuss how a R.I.P. communicates dot placement and dot size to the printer allowing for a deeper, darker image.
-Understand the importance of film and ink working along with the R.I.P to make effective positives.
-Compare output from an inkjet printer using a R.l.P. to a laser printer with toner on vellum.
-Understand the importance of a high-quality positive for professional results and how to obtain them.
