DESCRIPTION:
QCM brand XOLB inks are high opacity, multi-purpose inks
designed for opaque and general printing. XOLB from QCM has a smooth, creamy
consistency leaves an even, uniform color on flashed under bases, including
white and can be opaque on dark garments without a white base using screen TPI
(threads per inch) counts lower than 160 per inch. XOLB inks are fast (lower
temperature) flashing, cure with a non-tack surface and contain rich, bright
pigments.
Note: Colors shown are not exact, web representations cannot be exact.
PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS:
XOLB inks print using a wide range of screen meshes, and
work well with direct emulsions and capillary films producing 5 to 20% EOM (Emulsion
Over Mesh). Best results are with screens that are 20 newtons or higher, but
will perform well with lower tension screens with proper off contact adjustments.
The best opacity is gained with a heavy flood and a correct squeegee shear depositing
a layer of ink on the surface of the shirt. Driving any plastisol ink into the
fabric will diminish the opacity and cause excessive curing temperatures and
time under heat. Sharp squeegees from 60-80 work well with 70 duro the best
general choice, a triple duro squeegee of 70-90-70 the optimum general printing
choice.
CURING:
Recommended cure temperature is 325 degrees F (160 degrees C).
Plastisol cure is instant when it reaches a final temperature, the time or "dwell"
listed is in reference to the fact that the entire ink layer must hit the cure
temperature to have a complete fusion or cure of the ink. When fully cured the
ink is completely wash fast. Low wash temperatures and cool dryer settings are
optimum, but cannot be ironed or dry cleaned.
SUBSTRATES:
XOLB inks are suitable for cotton, cotton blends, acrylics, polyesters and poly-cotton
blends. Complete testing is necessary for proper adhesion and washability. Dye
migration, sublimation and bleeding colors are possible with polyester fabrics.
Additives:
XOLB inks are ready to use right out of the bucket. Extenders and soft hand
extender bases are available. Viscosity reducers are available for reducing
thickness while maintaining opacity.
Cleaning:
QCM platisol inks contain no lead pigments. XOLB inks when properly disposed
of have no environmental impact. Use a quality screen ink wash labeled for use
as an "on press wash" designed for your emulsion (to prevent lock
in) for cleaning screens.
